The Big Move

Project details

In March 2011 the gym club were given a years notice to vacate the gym at the Peele Community College, so that the school have space to offer 6th form Vocational Studies.

Fortunately we have found a builders warehouse in Lime Walk to rent. However, this needs complete renovation; including heating, lighting, kitchen and office facilities, toilet facilities and relocating all the gym equipment.

We are now on a mission to raise at least £40,000. If you feel you can help please email lday1987@aol.com.

A Note from the Chairman........................

Saturday 11th Feb arrived, the day we moved to our new home. Snow, sunshine, and -15 degrees. Vic, Dads, Mums, friends and a tractor, driver, and trailer provided by Piccavers Farms were set to go at 8am. By 11:30am our old gym at the Peele Community College was empty. Our new home was bulging at the seams. Soon came the time to put the jig saw back together (after a tea break and a piece of cake). The sprung floor was first down, followed by the tumble trac. The chaps were stars and worked so hard to get all this back together (with a little help from Lauren, Laura, Cheryl, and Emma).

Jodie, Penny, and Bev got to work with a needle and thread, repairing the crash mats, a painstaking job. The rest of us were sorting, cleaning, and keeping the tea brewed.

At 4pm we called it a day and celebrated with fish and chips supplied by Henry's of Long Sutton (Thank you).

Sunday morning, Vic and Dads continued with the refit of the beams and the flooring, and the ladies continued with the sewing and the cleaning before calling it a day at 3pm, leaving only a little tweaking and cleaning to do over the next week.

Thank you to everyone involved (sorry I haven't named you all.

The Gym will be open on Sunday 19th February for squad gymnasts and parnets to have a look around. Training will re commence Monday 20th February.
